The Altenheim Foundation

It all started with a group of volunteer women who envisioned providing a safe haven for women in their later years. With generous donations from the community, West Side Deutscher Frauen Verein (translated, West Side German Women’s Society) became a reality. The first resident came to live in what was named Altenheim (translated, Seniors’ Home) in 1892.

Today, more than 130 years later, this strong sense of philanthropy and compassion continues through The Altenheim Foundation, a 50l(c) (3) charitable  organization. The Foundation serves to support the services and accommodations provided to seniors by Altenheim Senior Living, a not-for-profit life plan community.

Through the generosity of families, friends and the community, The Foundation enables Altenheim Senior Living to provide programs that enrich residents’ lives such as Music & Memory and to support Altenheim in its mission to serve those who can least afford to meet the ever rising costs of care.

There are many ways to support The Altenheim Foundation, including the Annual Appeal, Grateful Families Program, the Staff Holiday Fund and Planned Gifts. Click here for more information.

Contributions are gratefully accepted by the Foundation for general, as well as specific, donor-related purposes. All gifts are tax deductible as allowed by law. Click here to view Ways to Give.
