Testimonials

From Shurmer Senior & Assisted Living Families:

“Thank you so much for all you do. We appreciate the kindness and compassion with which you treat them and all the residents. We know that your work is very demanding. Thank you for doing it with such grace. Thanks for answering our questions and honoring our requests. Our family has grown quite attached to all of you.”

“We can’t thank you enough for all you’ve done over the last three years. She was happy there and we knew she was being well cared for—oh so much more than that. I don’t think you find that true affection for a resident everywhere. We were lucky to find Shurmer Place.”

“Thank you for such good care of my mother.”

From Altenheim Skilled Nursing & Therapy Rehab Families:

My family and I would like to thank you for your service and devotion to my wife during her stay at the home. All of your staff should be praised for their professionalism. We really appreciate all you have done for us. I would like to thank everyone for the tender care and devotion during the final stages of my wife’s life. Nobody could have done a better job. I will miss not seeing your people anymore. Going to visit my wife was the high point of the day and something I looked forward to every day. As my daughter would say in jest, save a bed for me as I may one day be staying in your nursing home.

To a person, the staff was magnificent. When we arrived with his traumatic brain injury, we did not know what to expect, but the speech and physical therapy people worked hard to help Dad recover as much as he could. We saw gentle care from the nurses and staff on the 400 hall when he stayed well beyond normal transition time. They always took excellent care of him. It was hard to leave the transitional hall.

When we moved to a permanent room, the staff was every bit as attentive to his needs. They were always doing whatever needed to be done for Dad and we are very grateful. When pneumonia got the best of him, their thoughtfulness was tremendous. Until the end, we counted on their diligence and professionalism to take care of Dad’s every need. We know every member of the Altenheim team is exemplary and every family with a loved one in their care should be thankful.

My husband, Tom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease 6 years ago. I took care of him at home until 18 months ago, when I could no longer help him by myself. Over the next one and a half years, Tom was at two assisted living centers and one nursing home. In some cases, I was told after a short stay, that they could not handle him. He did have mood swings and inappropriate, physical behaviors. He was no longer eating, no longer swallowing, down to under 120 pounds. After a hospital stay, a feeding tube was recommended. Well, Tom has been at Altenheim for nearly a year. I am thrilled because Sarah in therapy got him to swallow and therefore he started eating again. He’s up to 160 now. Even Dr. Farivar said it was unheard of for someone to come back from not swallowing. I am pleased with his medication management . He is taking only what he needs, and not simply to keep him sedated and quiet. Altenheim is close to our home, so I come twice a day to feed him. The food is wonderful. It is a blessing that he is at Altenheim and receiving such good care.

I came to Altenheim to recover from a stroke. Everyone has been so kind and helpful. Everyone is doing their best to make sure that I am able to take care of myself when I go home. The aides, the nurses and the therapists take good care of me. Everyone is friendly. The staff treats everyone the same, with kindness and respect. I will be using Altenheim Home Health Care when I return home and look forward to the same professional, kind treatment that I received in skilled nursing and rehab.
